“You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find inner strength.” Marcus Aurelius
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a collaborative process whereby you are guided and coached by the therapist on how to connect with your imagination and respond to suggestion to inspire the desired change. Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is an integration of three therapy models. Hypnosis, CBT and Mindfulness, proven to be effective and more powerful than using them on their own.
In hypnosis, your imagination creates positive scenes picturing your goals, rehearsing the changes you want to make to the way you think, feel and act. Your internal imaginings experienced during therapy creates powerful sensations in the mind and body, as if experienced in real life.
Hypnosis is a highly focused state of mind. What is more interesting, it is a totally natural state of mind, one that you may find yourself in at various times throughout the day.
For example: Have you ever been so engrossed in watching a movie or sports event that you don’t hear anyone speaking to you? You’ve zoned out from whatever’s going on around you. Or have you ever driven your car and slipped into auto-pilot by drifting into your mind and thoughts and can’t remember passing certain places on route?
Well..... guess what.....believe or not....in those moments you are experiencing hypnosis.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and it is not something that is done to you. The therapist is the coach to guide you into hypnosis, you are the one doing the internal work by responding to suggestions. You will remain in control and aware of what is happening during the session, you will be fully engaged and able to speak and respond during the session. Hypnosis in its simplest term is about suggestibility, a state of mind whereby you focus your attention and imagination into your internal world to make the changes at the deepest level, instead of focusing on the external world.
You've heard the saying "Its an Inside Job!"
Clinical Hypnotherapy is nothing like you see on the TV, it’s not magic or taking control of a person or making you do silly things, in hypnosis you are always aware and in control of YOU. CBT with Hypnosis gives you the tools to unlock your true potential.
You cannot get stuck in hypnosis, it is completely safe and is a researched, evidenced and recognised clinical treatment.
“Our life is what our thoughts make it.”.
